Aperture Questions
1) The part of the body we should  closely relate aperture is the pupil  in the eye.
2) The smaller the aperture the sharper the image and the larger aperture the greater depth.
3) The aperture impacts the depth the field by when it has a bigger number the image is clear and when it has a smaller number the background is blurred.

 Shutter Speed Questions
At the beginning while the sun was still up and the courtyard had reasonable good light

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree ( Fast)
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings (Fast
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym (Slow)
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard ( Fast)
e.) people streaming in from the front doors (Slow)
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop (Fast)

Towards the end when there is no sun and has gotten dark enough that you can't see from one end of the courtyard to the other.

a.) a booth in the middle of the yard near the Tree ( Slow)
b.) a food booth outside under one of the big red awnings (Slow)
c.) the Stars performance inside the gym (Fast)
d.) students dancing near the center of the courtyard (Slow)
e.) people streaming in from the front doors (Fast)
f.) the basketball booth where students are shooting basketballs at a hoop (Slow)

2) One way to control shutter speed is Auto is when the camera does it for you.The second mode is Shutter Priority which your shutter speed but the camera decides the aperture. Lastly Manual mode where you set the aperture and shutter speed.

ISO 3200

ISO Questions
1)  The advantages of shooting at a higher ISO at a sporting event like basketball or a night football game is that you would get a cleaner shot (stop motion) than one that is blurry.

2) The author's  suggestions did the author make about using a low ISO was that having a low number meant that it would not be focused.

3) The author's suggestions did the author make about using a high ISO would mean that the photo is actually focused.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. It's not ok if it changes the meaning of the photo.
B. They have strict rules like don't change the colors.  Also photojournalists have to turn in the original photo along with any manipulated photo.
C.  Ask the person's permission for any edits.  Don't switch bodies.  It's ok to crop photos if you don't cut out an important part of the story.  It's ok to lighten a photo or darken it if it's not changing it like the O.J. Simpson photo...just making things more visible.

D
oprah121

I think this photo is the most unethical because you shouldn't steal someone's body and make them look thinner, younger, more glowing, etc.  They used someone of another race as if Oprah's body wasn't good enough.  It also steals credit of the orignal photographer from his work. They didn't even tell Oprah they were going to do this.

This image manipulation isn't so bad.  It's just making her look a little thinner but isn't changing who she is or using someone else's body.

Academic Shoot - Culinary

Lines
These are the kitchen utensils that are hanging from a rack from the ceiling.  It includes whisks and ladles.  I think it's clear these are kitchen tools.

Simplicity
These are lemons that the Chef instructor cut into shapes  in the class in front of the students.   I think it's clear these are lemons and there is nothing in the background to distract the eye..

Avoiding Mergers
The yellow is another lemon cut and the red rose is a tomato that has been cut by the Chef with lettuce underneath.  The red to the side is a bag or bucket on the counter.  I avoided a merger by keeping part of the plate and lettuce visible between the tomato and the bag/bucket.

Framing
The subject is the Chef's hands cutting a lemon.  The frame is 2 students that were between me and the Chef.  So you can't tell the frame, but you can tell the subject.

Balance
The subject are cake tools used to cut or insert to shape a cake.  I could have gone at a different angle to make the subject visible from a different angle and probably could have included the cake pans you can barely see to the right.  This might have helped people know what they were more easily.

Rule of Thirds
The subject is baskets that have been stacked on a shelf.  If I had moved a bit more to the right and had more of an angle or backed up (not zoomed) so you could also see more of the baskets and the shelf they were stacked on.

Academic shoot preview

The Story

I like how the image captures that the kids on the right hand side are helping feed the homeless. In a way it makes you think how fortunate you are and that there are people in the world who need shelter and food and that doing the right thing by giving is making a difference no matter what your age.

Action and Emotion

I love how the photographer captures the moment of the girl in the picture that is  standing out and in the background everything is blurry so it focusses on the girl making the whole picture look dramatic. If you look closer you can see the water drop from the water bottle more clearly that is about to fall into her mouth.

Filling the Frame

I definitely think this picture is filling the frame because you can barely see the background. I also like how the photographer got some of the water drops on the camera lens, but mostly the water drops coming from the girls hair flying off. One more thing I think is pretty cool on the girl's shoulder you can see the shadow of the water drops on her.

Part2

Honestly I had a really hard time deciding which photo I liked because they are all different in their own way, but I guess it would be the photo that has the girl in the background who is blurry titled "Drop the Bass".  She has a pink paint bottle in her hand which she is pouring into this black hole looking object.  The paint starts flying up in the air and it has these pink bubbles getting smaller and smaller. The black object on the bottom of the photo shows pink lines of paint spreading out from the middle .
1. I picked this photo because it looks like a photo I would have taken - artsy and close-up.
2. Rules of photography that apply are Lines, simplicity and balance.

Next Shoot:
1. I think I could take photos like the ones I saw today in Culinary or FFA.
2. Chef Richard Winemiller's culinary class or Price's FFA class.
3. Find close-ups.  Unique shots like bird's eye view or worm's eye.  Unique angles.  Pictures of someone who's not looking at the camera but they're focused on what they are doing.  I may try to blur the background to focus on what they are doing.

Post Shoot Reflection

1. The challenges I had were that I couldn't included my group members if
     I wanted to.

2. The technical aspects I thought about most were what kind of angles or close ups I could do.One thing I did well was the pink flower closeup.

3. If I were doing it over I would have had more of a variety then all angles like rule of thirds or framing.

4. Something I would do the same would be doing angles and continuing to try and focus on my own perspectives.

5. I added my comments to the best 4 photo's post.

6. I think no on having the assignment again because I would like to explore new challenges

Edited Post (9/11 photos)

Lines

It represents lines because there are lines in the background that help make
the image more dramatic and because that is where the scene with the plane happened and then
you have the outline of the plane in the building that interrupts the lines of the building.

Balance

This image is balanced because the buildings are balanced with the height and the bridge
and the towers have similar shapes also the lines of the outside of the bridge and the outside
of the towers are clean lines.

Distraught
Simplicity

This shows Simplicity because its focused on the one object in the middle and there is
no distractions in the background also the picture is using a zoom lens to help draw the
attention to the woman crying.

Manhattan was bathed in an eerie smoke for days afterwards

Framing

The smoke and the destroyed buildings are centered in the background and the buildings that have not been destroyed are out in the front with clean buildings. They also help create depth of field of what's in front of you.

Rule of Thirds
the image is not centered  and the fireman are dragging the man who is hurt
and the  focus of the image is mostly off to the right also the people are walking
into the empty space on the left part of the photo.

Avoiding Mergers
The image is showing that the helicopter looks like it's running into
the building when it's really not. Also the blades of the helicopter
are cut out a little.

Camera History and Basic Functions

The Camera

1. The Camera obscura effect is  dark room and it basically was the first camera invinted.
While in the dark room it has a hole in the wall which lets the light in and the outside be
     projected on the opposite wall.

2. The invention that helped get closer to the modern camera in the 17th century is lenses and  optics  because  Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens understood the process of glass.

3. The parts of the first modern camera invented by Niépce is the film.

4.The modern digital cameras that have in common with Niépce camera is that they have a film
and a dark box and a lens.

5. The digital cameras use to capture an image is a electronic sensor called a CCD which is
    stored in a memory device.

Camera Modes

6. The difference between auto mode and program mode is auto mode controls the flash
and exposure for you, while program you can control the flash and more settings.

7. Portrait mode is used for blurring out the background and focusing on the subject
and it works by using the fastest lens setting as possible.

8. Sports mode is used to freeze the motion of the subject and it works by using the highest
    shutter speed as possible.

The Half Press
9. You should use half press on the trigger button because it focuses on the subject.

Controlling Flash

10. The symbol with no lightning means disabled flash and it depends on photographer
if they want to use or not use flash to create dramatic effect.

11.The symbol with lighting and auto means auto flash and you use this mode when
the camera thinks it needs more light .

Introduction to Exposure
12.What happens if a photo has too much light is that it will be washed out.

13. When a picture does not have enough light in means that a picture is too dark.

The Universal Stop
14. Stop is a relative change in the brightness of light its like if you have a light bulb
but  add another light bulb the light will change intensely.

15. There are 4 stops brighter on the new planet if there were two suns instead of one.

16. There are 8 stops brighter on the new planet if there were four suns instead of two.

Shutters and Aperture
17.  The effect with longer shutter speed is more light will come in through the lens

18.  The effect with shorter shutter speed is less light will come in.

19.  The word aperture control means before light reaches film it has to pass through
        aperture.

20.   When adjusting the aperture ,you can increase the amount of light by adusting the
F stop to a   smaller number which makes a bigger hole to let light in.
