Merger Photo

1. A straight line background (fence) could make it hard for everything to line up perfect when you merge it.
2. A great place would be in front of the school where there are stone benches near the band hall or in my backyard.
3. Having my friend do dance poses would make a cool photo, but ran out of time.  
4. I would have her wear something colorful that would stand out from the background.  I wore a shirt that would contrast with background.

Final Exam Planning

1.   I  already took  the pictures  on April 23 the day of Dripping Springs Founders Day but I still need to shoot a video.

2.  I shot at RRR ( Rocky River Ranch).

3. I will be telling a story through my eyes of going to a camp ever since I was seven years old. And all the memories and traditions around RRR camp life.

4. I will be using my camera that's a Nikon and will be using iMovie. Plus I will be using YouTube for camp songs  that will be mentioned and included.

5. Majority will be photos. I will start talking as the video begins. I'm not sure where the video part will go since I'm still trying to figure it out.

 Make sure your writing about something you strongly care about.


2. What was one idea the writer gave in the Opinions Pieces section that you should remember as you are writing your piece?

 Include details toward the topic and be specific on what it it means to the writer.

3. List three suggestions the writer makes in the Personal Essays and Crafts section that you will use as you write.

Make connections with bringing the subject closer and have for detail. Take ideas and have reaction to certain things discussed. The reader should get a idea of why the writer feels a certain way.

It’s unfair that in many countries today they allow boys to get an education and girls not to get an opportunity to learn. One country right now that’s going through this is Pakistan.  It is in the top ten for females not getting the right that they deserve.

I think that most people today don’t realize how important an education is and aren’t grateful for the education they are getting.  Kids my age often complain about how hard school is or it’s so stupid on some subjects or how they are taught. Even though schoolwork gets harder and harder. Moving up to the next grade level teaching and preparing us for getting a job and preparing for our future.

If I had not been adopted and was still in the orphanage in China in my home town, odds are that I would not have been able to go to school past elementary.  I would either be working in the orphanage or a factory. The part in China where I was born is very rural and poor and culturally males may be valued more than girls so get to keep going to school when girls don’t.

There is a fund right now that’s based upon Malala Yousafzai who was born in Pakistan. She took a stand for what she believed in toward noticing that education is being limited for her and much less all female children as well.  Because of using her voice, word got out that a 15 year girl wasn’t afraid of what she believed in. She was shot by the Taliban because she was going to school

There are many countries where girls have limited chances for an education or only an elementary level education.  In Somalia, 95% of girls age 7-16 have never been to school.  Other countries who have the highest rate for girls not going to school include Niger, Liberia, Mali, Burkina, Faso, Guinea, Pakistan, Yemen, Benin and Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria.  They all have over 50% or more where the girls 7-16 don’t go to school.

Many reasons why girls have been not able to go to school is based upon the fact of not having enough money, violence at school, child marriage and the fact that their role in the household is either help with preparing food or taking care of siblings.

Parents may not want girls to go to school because they may be protecting girls from the violence at school or on the way to school.  Parents may not be able to afford to send their children to go to school and if they can only afford one they send the boy. The Taliban and groups like Boko Haram do not believe girls should receive an education.

“According to the World Bank, the return on one year of secondary education for a girl correlates with a high 25% wages later in life.” (GlobalPartnership.org)  An education for girls helps their future generations and helps take them out of poverty.  Evidence shows that women invest their money back into their family and communities.

Being able to get a higher education means there are less likely to get married, as a child bride.  This means they won’t have as many children over their lifetime so this controls the population.  It also means they aren’t as likely to die in childbirth which happens more to child brides

I feel lucky to be receiving a good education and wish that girls all around the world had this opportunity.

Our Great Tree is Worth Saving

Final Exam Preview Activity

1.) It gave pointers on how to cut or add in photos. Especially if you want to shorten or add seconds to the project. There has to be a theme.
The movie can include sound effects, vocieovers. Its I movie is not all about videos but you can shoot pictures. The timeline can  be longer or shorter depending how long the producer wants it 

2.) I already knew how to move clips in the timeline.

4.)  I'm concerned about if we have to work with vocieovers or somehow I'm going to lose the whole project.

Nut Graf

makes the reader want to read the whole article.Its usually a paragraph or sentence.It explains "in the nut shell what the article  is about.And it doesn't give a whole lot of detail so the reader can keep reading.

In the beginning there needs to be a hook.The ending is never spoiled to the reader. Also includes why the reader should care.Plus its taking place in the beginning of the article. More than a sentence.

    There was angles and cropping was really good, and close ups and the photos had story clearly stated. Some area might need help are lighting and maybe watch on the Photoshop with the baseball player throwing the ball at the batter.

3. Briefly describe the process the judges went through in deciding the winner.     

 Look at the portfolios ,delete worst pictures,critique the better ones,chose the best ones       

 Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.  I agree with judges on the first photo with the subject in a sled and the camera on the edge and how whats makes this unique and also I don't like the fact that the camera is on its side.

Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong. The one with the soccer player jumping in the air I like it and I don't think its simple since she's showing emotion and the fact that she stands out.

Student of the Month Interview #2

1. How much effort  did it take you to get up this far to be ''Student of the month"?
 It took a lot of determination to get all my assignments done and hard work really paid off.

2. Do you consider yourself to be a role model for younger generations and friends ? why?
   I do consider myself to be a role model since sometimes I can relate to certain topics that are brought up.

3. Is there a certain expectation your teachers have of you versus family toward school work?
 Not really they just want whats best for me and for me to do my best.

4.  What stands  out from you as opposed to other students that go to school?
   I try and go the extra mile with extra credit, test corrections, signing up for fit especially when I have a test for that subject.

5. How do you balance a student life keeping up with grades and the real you when you have free
time? I work hard with  motivation and when I'm done I can have time to goof off or chill with my friends.


6.  Where do you see yourself when you graduate from high school and go forward with the future?
  I'm not sure where I see myself ,but right now I'm really into photography and the many opportunities I get to share with the viewer.


7. How late does it take you to do your homework and study?
It depends what I have for homework,subject,how tired I am.

8. What are some opportunities are you are waiting to happen at Bowie?
  Get better at photography and keep making friends.

9. Do you think this opportunity is worth the hard work you did?
 I think this is worth it since if I do find a good school , it would really look good on my application.

10. Depending on the core class is homework a struggle for you?
 Yes since Bio,Geo,Math are my worse subjects.

  No since nothing about my personality changed and they know how hard I work with school work.

12. For students that do struggle with the amount of homework and have to be in a modified class what advice do you give the them?  If you want out of the class then try going the extra mile. Modified is set to your learning level if you want a challenge then go for it.


13. If during the school there was a nap/free time period besides lunch how would you use it?
 I would  sleep and maybe use some of that time to doodle or etc....

14.  What activities are you involved in at and outside of school?
  I'm involved in Track at Bowie.

 Not that I know of.

16. What can students do to try overcome test anxiety and stress in general ?
  Eat a healthy breakfast, go to bed early, study, have a great attitude. 

17. Any tips for trying to survive the school days without trying to fall asleep or skipping class?
  Yawn really big so that oxygen goes to your brain, figit with something.

18. Is there a certain way you study and do homework if so what?
 For homework I listen to music in the background since I hate it when it quiet cause then it sounds like a funeral .And for studying I use repetition.

19. What motivates you during the day to do your best?
  Just to keep reminding myself that I'm challenging myself plus there is only four class periods a day.

20. Does the attendance effect your grades and the Eocs?
  It does affect me since I really need that incentive to try and help with the subject.

End     As her fellow students learned about this award, they got to know more about Johnson which helped her make additional friends at her new school.
