Mural project
My groups theme was color and I chose the color blue .
Local Austin Photographer
I choose Shelly Elena because her style seems like it would fit mine sense we like the angles and close ups. I also love how in some of her pictures that it shows motion or her photos that show the true beauty in nature . And some of them to me makes me think of where my next adventure should be .
Shelly style is more than just wedding pictures and engagements but it also includes adventures like pictures you wouldn't expect or think about . Some of her photos that stood out to me was the third picture in adventure with the rock climbing and another one was the twelve one in black and white with the children.
Shelly has been taken photos of over 100 weddings and she started doing photography when she was in collage . Its has been now eight years since she fell in love with taking pictures. She always had a eye for taking pictures of the beauty in life. She is married to Brad who is a engineer. They live southwest of Austin on a farm.
I liked this picture with the reflection of the trees that look like they are upside down hanging down from the river. Also it gives you a point of view from the canoe.
This picture I like better than the other soccer photo it shows the players faces and body positions waiting for the ball to move toward a goal or away. The rule photography this would follow is balance.
I like how everything in the background is blurred. And it focuses on the purple face paint making the girl/guys eyes strand out from the background.
I love how this pictures background can make you feel like your actually hiking up the mountain. And for some reason in reminds me of the movie The Sound Of Music.
The way the sun touches the hills and the canyon is really beautiful and photographers say either sunset or sunrise has the perfect lighting for taking pictures. I think its interesting how there is only one tree in the middle of the picture.

Blog - #4 -Magazine part II
Image based is when its showing you a picture of a person place or thing. the photographer would use photo's in general to maybe make you feel like you are somewhere or show you a celebrity or a cute animal. A photographer would use an image because if it's a celebrity then maybe it is for people who are fans of their acting. Or maybe if it's a place it could make the reader want to go to that place.
Illustration based is when the picture is drawn out on the cover. And most people use illustration for maybe history back in the day when they didn't have any photos because cameras were not invented yet in that year. Also if it's history for kids then it's a good way to get their attention because even if it's a drawling it paints a picture for the young kids who might like comics.
Typed based is making the words striking and grab the readers attention or getting the message across. Some people on their free time might like reading in more depth, more descriptive and really get into the article and its topic. Depending on the title or saying the article says it could show mystery or curiosity in the article.
Concept based is when its clearly understanding to the reader and it could be drawn or have been photo shopped. It's to make a point . An example might be politics with Trump and Hillary with voting. It might be a cover for humor or shock with the reader and that's what draws them in.

American Soldier
A) I think the most powerful image is the "Training Under Fire"picture on page five with the soldiers and there guns in there hands and some of them on the ground. Also I noticed behind them they have like a big dust cloud that is getting darker and darker that creates a more dramatic effect on the picture.
B) The images work together to tell a story by giving the reader a visual image as they read along
and it can feel like they are going through the process of training with Ian Fisher.
C) The captions enhance the photographs by filling in the gaps that the picture cant explain. Plus they can also tell where the person is.
D) The whole story was about Ian Fisher and his first year in the military. He had a rough time during first training and he wasn't as prepared as he thought. He kept messing up because his base was close to his home and he would come back late from weekends. He was on the border of getting kicked out but they demoted him but gave him another chance. He was sent to Iraq for a year and he started changing. He worked hard and eventually got back to his original rank. When he got back a year later he got married.
E) The captions are in present tense.
F) Captions
1. Most captions are two or three sentences.
2. And the information in the first sentences usually provides who Fisher is with and it tells you the date and year of when its happening.
3. The information the second sentences provides more details on the story. The third sentence would provide even more detail like explaining why Fisher was praying when I thought someone died.
4. Some of the captions do include a quote.
5. Not many have five sentences on like maybe two of the photos.
G) It's possible to tell a story with the captions and pictures because I don't think the reader wants to read like ten pages of complete detail to try and find out what are the stages of joining the Army. So yes it is possible the pictures can help the reader visualize the story better and the captions give you detail the picture might not.
H) Some readers want more detail than the photos and captions can provide. Also you may be able to provide more background in the full story plus more emotion. If people are in a hurry they may not want or need the full story, but some people do want more information.
